Dr. Vsevolod (Sev) Perelman received his Doctorate in Medicine and a Master of Science in Human Physiology degrees, from the University of Toronto, He completed his residency in Family Medicine at U of T and Emergency Medicine fellowship at the University of Western Ontario.
He is an Associate Professor at the Division of Emergency Medicine, Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto.
He is a co-founder and Medical Director of the Orthopedic Rehabilitation Institute, where he treats clients with acute and chronic pains utilizing most modern ultrasound-guided interventional techniques.
Dr. Perelman is also working as a Staff Emergency Physician at the Schwartz/Reisman Emergency Centre at Mount Sinai Hospital.
He has been certified as an Independent Practitioner by the Canadian Point-of-care Ultrasound Society in 2008. In 2016 he completed the change of scope of practice process by the Ontario Medical Association and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario to reflect his expertise in Pain Medicine.
Dr. Perelman passed the examination and is accredited as Certified Interventional Pain Sonologist by the World Institute of Pain and accredited as Advanced Diplomate in Interventional Pain Management by the Canadian Academy of Pain Management.
Dr. Perelman is a medical educator with over 20 years of experience. He obtained formal training as a Simulation Instructor from the Canadian Resuscitation Institute, Harvard-MIT Centre for Medical Simulation and MSR Israel Centre for Medical simulation. He was the first physician in Canada to be certified as an Advanced Healthcare Simulation Educator by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare. He is a Director of Education for the World Academy of Pain Medicine Ultrasonography and he teaches extensively nationally and internationally.
He has publications in several peer-reviewed journals including “British Medical Journal- Simulation and Technology”, “Critical Care”, “Annals of Emergency Medicine”, "Pain Medicine", "Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine", “Simulation in Healthcare, “Canadian Journal of Anaesthesia” etc. He was the recipient of the Canadian National Resident Research Award, the North York General Hospital Award for Leadership in Family Medicine, and several teaching awards and nominations, including the Emergency Medicine Undergraduate Teaching Award from Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto, and the Anna Jarvis Award for Teaching Excellence in Emergency Medicine.
Additionally, Dr. Perelman is a team physician for the Raptors 905 NBA G-league team.
